- Left reverse corner - Sweeping
-
Pull up on the left in a Safe, Convenient And Legal Position before the junction.
- The examiner will inform you that they want you to reverse your car into the side road on the left, keeping reasonably close to the kerb.
- Prepare the car, Observe, Move off.
- Pull up on the left in a Safe, Convenient And Legal Position about 2-3 car lengths passed the junction but leave a gap between your car and the kerb as you are not parking.
- Prepare the car in reverse gear (clutch only, no gas needed).
- Observe (right shoulder to left shoulder).
- Move off slowly looking over your left shoulder.
- You should be able to see the corner in your rear window. The corner will disappear out of view the closer you get.
- Once the corner is out of view start looking in the rear left window and wait for the kerb to be visible just above the bottom left corner of the window. This is when you want to start turning.
- Turn the steering wheel slowly until the bottom bar reaches 10.30 clock position.
- When you think you are getting nearly all the way round the corner start to look in the rear window again and wait for the groove on the wiper to sit on the kerb.
- When you see this, quickly turn the wheel to the right to get your wheels straight.
- Then guide yourself back keeping the wiper groove on the kerb until you have reached the 3rd or 4th white line.
- REMEMBER - Throughout the manoeuvre you need to look all around for traffic every car length (approx. 7-8 times).
