- Reverse Park - Parallel

This manoeuvre involves pulling up alongside a parked vehicle on the left and reversing your car to a parked position behind the other vehicle near the kerb and within 2 car lengths.
Drive up alongside the parked vehicle, leaving a 1metre gap, and stop when your left door mirror is approximately level with the end of the parked vehicle. Apply your handbrake.
- Prepare the car in reverse gear (clutch only, no gas needed).
- Observe (right shoulder to left shoulder).
- Move off slowly looking over your left shoulder.
- Step 1 - reverse slowly until your back seats are level with the end of the parked vehicle.
- Step 2 - turn the steering wheel to full lock left (3 turns) keep moving slowly. Once at full lock check your right shoulder for any traffic. Keep moving until your car is at 45 degrees in the road (1:30 on a clock face).
- Step 3 - turn your steering wheel right 3 turns to the straight position whilst keeping on the move.
- Step 4 - keep moving in a straight line until your left door mirror blocks the relevant positon.
- Narrow cars - right of the manufacturers badge (middle of the car)
- Normal cars - manufacturers badge (middle of the car)
- Wide cars - left of the manufacturers badge (middle of the car)
- Step 5 - turn your steering wheel to full lock right (3 turns), keep moving and check your right shoulder again for traffic.
- Step 6 - keep moving until your car is parallel with the kerb and then turn your steering wheel left 3 turns back to straight so that your wheels are not sticking out. Apply the handbrake and select neutral.
- It is important that throughout the manoeuvre you look over your left shoulder as much as possible and only look round when you are near a turning reference point
